What Does HVAC Refer To?

HVAC, which stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, is a combination of technologies used to help make you more comfortable in your Sacramento home.

While this certainly includes maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature for you and your family, it also includes air quality as well.

What Are Some of the Benefits Provided By My HVAC System?

However comfortable you may be in your Sacramento home, the reality is that according to the EPA, the air quality inside your home may be up to 5 times worse than the air outside your home. As a result, you could be breathing all kinds of mold spores, pollen, dirt and dust, and other contaminants throughout the day. And ultimately, this can lead to increased allergic reactions with your loved ones.

Instead, an efficient HVAC system works to actively bring in fresh, filtered air from the outside to replace the contaminant-filled air inside.

Next, an efficient HVAC system uses less energy to heat and cool your home, which can lead to lower electric and gas bills over the course of a year. A quality HVAC system from Spectrum One can also reduce the interior moisture of your home and prevent the growth of mold and mildew inside your walls (note: wood, vinyl, and fiber cement siding can also have an impact on moisture exchange).

Finally, by maintaining a constant temperature, keeping moisture in check, and repeatedly exchanging air, modern HVAC systems can allow your house to breathe properly and to better maintain its longevity.

What’s the Best HVAC System for Your Sacramento Home?

When it comes to choosing the right HVAC system for your home, there are a number of variables to consider, including the size of your home, the age of your home, and whether you need a completely new system (including ductwork), or just the primary unit. You’ll also need to determine if your primary focus is on power and efficiency, or on price.

When we arrive at your home for your HVAC consultation, Spectrum One will thoroughly discuss your ultimate goal, and inspect your home to determine the best route to get you there. We’ll also provide you with a rock-solid estimate if you would like to give you a better idea of your total costs, so you’ll have this information right from the get-go.

The HVAC Installation Process

After your Spectrum One contractors arrive, our lead technician will talk with you about what to expect, while any work areas are prepared by other team members.

Once work on your new HVAC system begins, we’ll remove your old unit, including all its parts and wires, and replace it with your new unit. Depending on placement, this may require some retrofitting in order to have it properly installed. Then, we’ll hook up your new unit to the appropriate electrical connections, and install any necessary flue pipes, drain lines, etc.

After your new unit has been installed, your old HVAC lines are flushed of any material, and then refrigerant is added and the lines are pressure and vacuum tested to make sure they’re leak free. If any ductwork was required, it will have been installed at the same time, so your new unit will be attached to the ductwork as well. Afterward, you’ll be able to enjoy your new HVAC system for many years to come, along with the comfort and good health it can provide you and your loved ones.

Things to Consider About Your HVAC System

The primary concern when purchasing a new HVAC system is properly sizing it to your Sacramento home. This is measured in a number of ways, including HSPF and SEER ratings, as well as tons and BTUs. However it’s measured though, the professionals at Spectrum One will make sure your HVAC unit matches perfectly with your home in order to provide years of enjoyment.

Price is also a major factor with HVAC systems, and the phrase “you get what you pay for” couldn’t be more true. This is because, in general, the higher you go in price, the better quality it will be and the more bells and whistles you’ll get with your HVAC system. This includes how well it’s built, how energy efficient it is, how long it will last, how quiet it is, and how many repairs it will require over the years, in addition to features such as variable speeds, humidity control, and more.

How Long Does it Take Spectrum One to Install an HVAC System?

In most instances, the professionals at Spectrum One can have your furnace or air conditioning unit installed in one day. This means that if one of your HVAC units quit working unexpectedly, we can have you back up and running as quickly as possible.

How long it will take to install your full HVAC system, including ductwork, depends on numerous factors, primarily the size of your Sacramento home, and whether or not this is a fresh installation (e.g. new home construction), or whether we’ll be removing and/or retrofitting your new HVAC system to your old one.
With this said, during your free HVAC consultation, we’ll include timeframes in your estimate. Regardless of how long it will take though, we’ll make sure that the process impacts your life as little as possible.

How Much Do HVAC Systems Cost?
